I have not written a blog post in a long while. I have had other things to write about.
But there are some things that have been going on for way
too long and they need to stop. Eighty
years ago, the Jews of Europe were almost exterminated in gas chambers and
firing squads in Germany, Poland and in Russia.
When the world found out the world wept.
They wept in part because the Millions of Jews that had been killed had
been killed because people gave them a blind eye. Jews that fled Germany before the war were
sent right back to Germany and they were rounded up later and murdered. When Nazi Germany invaded a country they
stripped the jews of their property and were shipped off to work camps where
the men were separated from the women and the children and the elderly, the men
were put to work digging mass graves and filling them in with the freshly killed
women, children and elderly usually
after filling the mass graves the men were shot and dumped in the graves and
then other men no shot buried them, sometimes it was incineration and cremation. When Germany had been conquered completely
these death camps were liberated and the horrors of them shocked the world.
The Jews were given a small strip of land that they could call
their own and create a Jewish state called Israel. Palestine, where Israel was set up had jews
there al ready and it had Palestinians too.
it had arbs as well. Setting up
that nation there was a crime, but given the crime that was put upon them by
the Nazis and the crime that had been put upon them by the Romans in when they forcibly
removed the Jews from Palestine in the first century of the common era, and the
discrimination that the jews were given by all of the Roman world and later the
Christan world, it was a small thing—except there was one group that did not
persecute the Jews and that was the Arabs and the people that became Islamic World. The Jews flourished in Moorish Spain, and
they were allowed to coexist with their society. But coexist and invade are tow different
things.
Let us be clear what happened to the Jewish people in
history was not fair and in today’s morality would be called wrong, somewhere
between cultural genocide and just hatred.
Shakespeare made Shylock a Jew so that his audiences would know that he
was the villain. Early Christian changed
their religion so that they would not be associated with Jews, and I could go
on. But given all these crimes committed
against their peoples for nearly two thousand years, they should be the last
people to do it to others.
Since the Jewish state was created there have been
problems. First the Palestinians were forcibly
removed from the territories and pushed into Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, and
Saudi Arabia. And this probably more than anything else started the first wars
against the new Israeli state. They attacked
Israel and lost. It was likely because
Israel was backed by western powers and there were lots of surplus world war
weapons that just ended a few years before and all those wars culminated in the
Six-day War where Israel tripled in size in six days of war and all the other
nations sued for peace, lest they be conquered themselves. After that war and a few other wars afterwards,
Israel was assured its existence.
Most of the wars after that were small border wars and wars
within the occupied territories like the recent war in Gaza. Which began when a thousand Hamas soldiers
invaded Israel and kidnapped a few hundred people and Israel fought back. Nice story, except it did not start there.
It started when Israel would not make peace with the
Palestinians. It started when the refugee
camps in the other Arab states surrounding Israel had people in them that had
never lived in Palestine. It had started
when Right Wing Israeli settlers were allows to go into occupied territories
and knock down villages and kill Palestinians to set up new Jewish settlements. It had started when arab and Palestinian kids whose parents had been killed by Israeli
raids were old enough to pick up rocks and throw them at soldiers who in turn
shot them and in turn the kids stopped throwing rocks and instead picked up
guns and RPGs. It started when Israel called
Palestinian elected governments Terrorist organizations and sent jet planes to
destroy their leaders. It started when Fascist
Israelis began seeing all Palestinians as terrorists and children as just
people who were not big enough to pick up a gun yet but would one day.
It began then a fascist Israeli government gained power and
saw that wholesale extermination of a people as the only way to stop
terrorism. It only took Israel eighty
years to go from the exterminated to the exterminators.
Back in the 1990s there was a pretty kick ass Sci Fi tv show
that was suffering from inability to get a good funding source and had episodes
made and then big pauses then more episodes made. It was called Babylon Five, and they were
fighting a big bad enemy who attacked ruthlessly with superior weapons never losing any fights. They pushed all the survivors in a big clump
and then they launched a massive attack on all the gathered people all
concentrated in that small location with no where to run, nowhere to flee, nothing
to eat and the alliance saw this plan and leapt out to defend these poor
refugees and save them.
Anyone that watched that sci-fi show would see the tactics
of Israel for what they are they have pushed all the people into one area, they
have been systematically killing journalists inside the country to limit the
news of what they have been doing. They are
denying quarter, if people wave a flag of truce, they get shot. Killing children is seen as killing future
terrorists, the propaganda that the Israeli fascist government is laughably see
through, saying their children idolize Hitler, saying that all the hospitals were
head quarters of Hamas, even saying that they had footage of wounded hostages
in a hospital as evidence that it was a headquarters. Showing an iPad with a history of Hitler
pages on it. Videos of missiles hitting
apartment buildings and knocking them down are not the actions of a people that
are concerned about killing terrorists, they are the actions of a people that
think all people are terrorists or that they are not human.
When Nazi-Germany was overthrown at the end of the second
world war, soldiers asked farmers and people living a few miles from the death
camps if they knew. They said they did
not know. But they were there right
beside the place where hundreds of thousands of Jews were murdered, how could
they not know? The Nazis did not
broadcast their Final Solution; it was a secret. People who lived there knew something bad was
happening, but not how bad. Today in
Germany it is a high crime to deny that it happened, and everyone is taught
that it happened. The Germans are a proud
people and to make sure that it never happens again they have to reconcile that
they did this as a people, they let this happen. If Germany elects a party that suggests
deporting people of non-German heritage there will be riots, because they know
that is where it begins.
Where is Israel right now? Do they believe that because of
the Genocide of World War Two, they have cart blanche rights to do anything
they want to protect their state? They do
not have that right unless we give it to them.
Do you give them the right to destroy a people?
